The cover art of this book is titled ‘Fraternal' and is actually half of a diptych. Fraternal can mean brotherly but also refers to non-identical twins. This work is about the relationship between two forms which are similar but not the same like a split personality or a contest between two elements. The intense red and orange vibrate against the blue with nervous energy. The exaggerated colours stem from a sense of revelation or elevated state. Sandra Yuen MacKay, the artist is also the author of My Schizophrenic Life: The Road to Recovery from Mental Illness.
